Abstract

Algorithms for digital signal processing (DSP) are often most naturally described by block diagrams in which computational blocks are interconnected by links that represent sequences of data values. Due to the emergence of low cost workstations and personal computing systems with graphics capabilities, it has become feasible for designers of signal processing systems to use graphical block diagram programming environments. As a result, there has been a proliferation of such programming environments in recent years, both from industrial sources and from research and educational institutions.
