Abstract
The theory of consumer demand has been a central topic in economics for many years, and modern formalised economic theory has dealt with consumer demand for some considerable time. The formalised theory of consumer demand has led the way towards econometric applications, and it is such applications that form the main theme of the present study. We are hereby pursuing a tradition which, from a Nordic perspective, has been followed by some of our most prominent applied economists, of whom the most well known are Ragnar Frisch, Gunnar Myrdal, Trygve Haavelmo and Herman Wold1.
