Trends in Banking: The Strategic Agenda


The issue of change in financial markets and the appropriate attitude of banks towards the shifts we are witnessing, are becoming ever more urgent questions as a consequence of the pace of change. Direct funding in money and capital markets and the present buyer’s state of mind in financial markets will deprive traditional lending of its dominant position in the attention of traditional bank management. Capital markets and capital market products will increase their already important role in tomorrow’s financial world. If they do not adapt to this trend, traditional banks will lose their dominant role in financing and absorbing deposits.
