Abstract

Over the last few years we have seen the development of a new methodological approach to problem-solving and decision-making in complex and complicated regulatory processes, namely the development of so-called “expert systems”. The knowledge of experts for decision making is necessary because these processes can hardly be described completely and exhaustively by mathematical methods. In our opinion, expert systems make possible decision proposals for a given task based on a vast amount of information about the controlled process, the logical connections thereof, and the organization of the man-machine dialogue. The real decision maker is always man, in our case the physician (Wernstedt, 1985).
