Abstract

Building an IVF program from the ground up is a difficult undertaking. Equipment must be obtained, set up and tested, protocols developed and personnel trained. In choosing equipment, methods and protocols, the experience of the pioneer IVF groups can be helpful. Review of their carefully enunciated experiences will save the neophyte time, energy and hopefully limit the potential for poor results. To these ends, this chapter will review the available data up to early 1986 concerned with several of the more important clinical variables encountered during in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer.
