Positron-Na Scattering Using CCA

Abstract

The Detroit group have started experiments on positron-alkali atom scattering and they have reported total cross sections for e+-K scattering1. They are going to report total cross sections for other alkali atoms in the very near future. The Calcutta group (Ghosh and his collaborators2—5) has investigated e+-Li scattering in detail. Guha and Ghosh2 and Majumdar and Ghosh3 have reported the positronium formation cross section using the adiabatic coupled-static and distorted wave methods. Basu and Ghosh4 have predicted the ionization cross section for e+-Li scattering using the distorted wave and First Born approximations. Khan, Dutta and Ghosh5 have performed a close coupling calculation retaining five (2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, 3d) eigenstates for e+-Li scattering. They have reported the results for elastic as well as inelastic processes. The findings of the Calcutta group show that inelastic processes dominate the scattering process. The Detroit group has also reached a similar conclusion.
