Abstract
There are a whole variety of simple diatomic (H2, D2, N2, O2, CO) to polyatomic (CO2, CH4, N2O, NH3, H2O, SiH4) molecules 2for which positron (e+) scattering has been investigated in the laboratory (see a recent review by Charlton and references therein). Here we are concerned only with the non-linear systems mainly the e+ collisions with CH4, SiH4, NH3 and H2O molecules. For CH4, there are quite a few experimental studies2 – 6 for the total (σt) cross sections, while for the other three gases only the measurements Sueoka and Mori7 – 9 are available for comparison with theoretical results.
