A variety of forms of immune complex nephritis have been reported in human thyroid disorders of immune origin as well as in animals with an induced lymphocytic thyroiditis 2. Several types of amyloid also represent expressions of immune system disorders. However, there are no reports of thyroid or renal amyloid associated with human thyroid disorders of immune origin, or in thyroglobulin (Tg) immunized animals. In recent investigations in animals with induced lymphocytic thyroiditis we observed amyloid lesions in thyroid and kidney.
