Abstract
Taurine occurs in high concentration in many mammalian tissues. It has numerous pharmacological actions. Taurine is powerfully anticonvulsant in both animal and human epilepsies1. Taurine reduces the rate of lesion development in genetically cardiomyopathic hamsters2. Taurine has inotropic actions3, and protects the heart in stress conditions such as calcium overload or increased workload4.
