Abstract

The papers assembled for this session illustrate various aspects of what might called the “dislocation” of the Operational Research school. This term is intended to convey the idea that OR is no longer the monolithic entity, rooted in specific theoretical concepts and occupying its own territorial reserves, conceived of by its proponents several decades ago; but that it has been taken over in piece-meal fashion by the “vertical” practitioners of business management, each concerned with his own sectorial pre-occupations of a directly relevant kind.
