An Attempt to Obtain Candida Skin Antigens for the Diagnosis of Systemic Candidosis

  • Chapter
Fungal Antigens

Abstract

We previously reported that a formol toxoid from canditoxin, a potent toxin of simple acidic protein nature which we isolated from cells of a highly virulent strain of Candida albicans, showed a delayed type skin reaction in guinea pigs experimentally infected with C. albicans and also in some patients with systemic candidosis (K. Iwata, 1978, Mycophathol., 65:141; K. Iwata, 1985, in “Filamentous Fungi,” T. Arai (ed) Japan Societies Press, Tokyo).
