Structure Characterization of Laser Treated WC-Co by Means of Position Sensitive Detectors (PSD)

Abstract

Main application fields of position sensitive detectors (PSD) are time resolved investigations, high speed diffractometry and stress measurements in order to reduce measuring time and to improve statistical reliability1–3. It is the aim of this work to use the advantages of PSD for local X-ray investigations with a view to a complete characterization of these small regions without changing the diffraction equipment during various experiments. Laser treated WC-Co hardmetal was used as an example of application for qualitative phase analysis and characterization of states of stresses and texture of different irradiated areas.
