Abstract

Cancer is certainly one of the most dreaded and fatal group of diseases to which humanity is subject. Despite many reassurances about imminent breakthroughs and periodic reports about successful treatment of a few malignancies, most people, professional and lay, would still regard the diagnosis of cancer as far more distressing than heart, liver, or kidney diseases, although in some respects, the actual prognosis of certain cancers may be far better.
