Variability of Mixed-Unit Chains in Metal-Containing Polymers

Abstract

Metal-containing polymers are presently interesting not only as individual compounds but as ingredients of polymer composites such as stabilizers, apprets, adhesive, coloring and dying agents, etc. A novel approach to the synthesis of structurally uniform metal-containing polymers is based on the homo- and copolymerization of metal-containing monomers (MCM): transition metal salts of unsaturated carboxylic acids, mono- and polynuclear complexes and monomers of cluster and chelate type. The dual nature of metal- containing polymers (MCP) (metal complexes on one side, and polymers with pendant metal substituents on the other) predetermines their properties and applications.
