Abstract
In previous work we demonstrated at the E.M. level the peculiar localization of Ag stained NORs around metaphasic chromosomes and also presence of numerous spherical argyrophilic components during telophase (D. Ploton et al., 1987). Several questions arose from these findings: 1) What are the spatial relationships of the argyrophilic components during all the phases of mitosis? 2) Do all the argyrophilic components contain very decondensed DNA, a supposed characteristic of rDNA? 3) What is the fine structure of argyrophilic components, particularly during metaphase and telophase?
