Correlations and Momentum Distribution in the Ground State of Liquid 3He

  • Chapter
Condensed Matter Theories

Abstract

A flexible variational wave function describing the ground state of liquid 3He is used to calculate the momentum distribution n(k) and the one-body density matrix ρ1(r) of the system. The trial wave function contains pair, triplet, backflow and spin-dependent correlations. The importance of the various correlations to determine n(k) has been explored and the results are compared to those available from variational and GFMC approaches and to the experimental data.
