Abstract

The study of antiprotonic-atoms has been the subject of much activity at LEAR with some 5 experiments being carried out in the period before the ACOL shut-down in 1986. Results from all of these experiments are now available. In the present lectures, the general topic of p̄ -atoms is considered with an emphasis on the results obtained at LEAR and their theoretical interpretation. The review falls naturally into two sections; p̄ -nucleus atoms and p̄ -nucleon atoms. First, however, a brief introduction is given to the general topic of exotic atoms. More detailed reviews are available elsewhere. (See ref. [1] and references therein).
