Possible Synthesis of Element 110 and the Future Prospects for Superheavy Elements

Abstract

An experiment to synthesize element 110 by the 59Co + 209Bi reaction has been performed. One event with many of the characteristics of a successful synthesis of 267110 was observed. The best reactions for the synthesis of the superheavy elements are discussed.
