Abstract

Something interesting often happens when a reaction mechanism is excited close to its threshold. The process of photoionization is no exception. Here the incident photon excites the ionic state just above its threshold so that the outgoing electron has a very small, nominally zero energy, and this can have profound influence on the dynamics of the process. In particular, electron correlations can become dominant.
