Abstract
Women and men physicians show substantial differences in their professional practices, primarily in types of specialties, traditional productivity measures (women’ s are lower), and income (women have less). However, income per hour is about the same when multiple factors are considered, and satisfaction with careers is both high and similar for women and men physicians.
