Experiences with the STA-Cortical MCA anastomosis in 46 cases

  • Chapter
Microvascular Anastomoses for Cerebral Ischemia

Abstract

We have performed the superficial temporal artery (STA-cortical middle cerebral artery (MCA) anastomosis on 46 cases between 1967 and 1974. The purpose of this paper is to report our results and consider the data derived from intraoperative intraarterial pressure measurements. We believe that this study may reinforce the theoretical background for this type of operation.
