Abstract
The most important factor for successfully performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation is opening the airway. Sometimes adequately opening the airway is all that is necessary for breathing to resume spontaneously. The technique used for opening an airway must facilitate good venstilation of the lungs immediately and, when necessary, over a prolonged period of time.
