Ocular manifestations of systemic diseases may appear as the first sign of a generalized disorder. Careful examination of the eye has been of prime importance to the internist in ferreting out significant diagnostic clues in complex disorders. In numerous instances specific ocular findings and symptoms have lead to the correct diagnosis of a systemic problem.
