Abstract

A prismatic beam is a region bounded by an exterior cylindrical surface, two terminal plane sections perpendicular to the generators and, if the beam is hollow, one or more interior cylindrical surfaces. The axis Oz of an orthogonal Cartesian frame is taken parallel to the generators of the cylinder. In a plane section perpendicular to the generators and referred to axes Ox and Oy, the region D is bounded by the exterior directrix co and the interior directrices ci. (i = l,…,n) of the cavities (Figure 6.1).
