Erratum to: A Molecular Basis for the Interaction of Bleomycin with DNA

  • Chapter
Bleomycin: Chemical, Biochemical, and Biological Aspects

Abstract

The bleomycin antibiotics form complexes with DNA (cf. 1) and with certain metal ions(2,3). Binding parameters for these complexes have been reportedv'I. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies(4) suggest that the bithiazole and terminal amine moieties of the bleomycins bind to DNA; certain other functional groups of the antibiotic serve as ligands for the metal ion(3,5). Some of the structural requirements for biological activity of bleomycin have been established(1,6). Various DNAs have been compared for their ability to bind these antibiotics(7).
