Abstract

In these injuries the procedure is determined by the patient’s general condition and the areal extent of the injury. The preservation of life must be our paramount concern in all extensive burns, but we need not abandon our concerns for the recovery of important motor functions. This is especially true for the hand, which is involved in a high percentage of all burn cases.
