Abstract
The recipient should be prepared and maintained on chronic intermittent hemodialysis while waiting for transplantation. In some recipients, especially when hyperkalemia is present, an additional dialysis just before transplantation may be necessary while the cadaver kidney is being perfused on the pulsatile preservation machine.
