Abstract
Most if not all activities of an organism are based on the activities of proteins. Atomic or even subatomic detail is responsible for the overall answer of a whole organism to problems of homeostasis and to challenges by the environment (728). This chapter summarizes aspects of protein structure which can be subsumed in the categories of mechanism, action or activity, and function.
