Splinting Versus Nonsplinting in Ureteral Surgery

  • Lester Persky

Abstract

During the past 30 years, numerous experimental studies on animals and investigations of various surgical techniques from the clinical standpoint have contributed greatly to our understanding of ureteral healing and regeneration. Although differences of opinion exist on the desirability and necessity of intubated repair [18] as the facts learned from the animal models and experience from the clinical series become widely known, the indications for splints or their omission will become more standardized.
