Abstract

In the past ten years, the availability of outpatient surgical centers has dramatically influenced the manner in which numerous gynecologic surgical procedures are managed. In addition to a marked reduction in cost to the patient, the added convenience to the patient and the physician are noteworthy considerations in the increasing use of outpatient facilities. Many of the procedures discussed here may very well be performed in an appropriately equipped office setting, and their inclusion in this chapter should not be construed as their being necessarily performed in the formal outpatient surgical suite.
