Abstract

Various hematologic disorders are associated with hypertension. These include the anemia of malignant hypertension; polycythemia associated with nonneoplastic renal disease such as hydronephrosis, polycystic kidney disease, renal artery stenosis; and relative or benign polycythemia, sometimes called Gaisbock syndrome. This chapter will describe these conditions and the methods which are used to treat them.
