Abstract
The Southeast Asian countries are situated in the tropical zone with a total population of about 340 million. They include Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Kampuchea (Cambodia), Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia. These are considered as developing countries, with the rural communities comprising about 80% of the population. In these rural areas, there are many important endemic parasitic diseases affecting the health and well-being of the people.
