Sulfur Dioxide and Grasslands: A Synthesis

  • Chapter
The Effects of SO2 on a Grassland

Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 45))

Abstract

We began this volume with the assertion that grasslands have a large capacity to adjust to perturbations. Evidence to support this can be found from experimental results as well as from the general observation that humankind has been more successful managing grasslands than other ecological systems. Indeed, grasslands are the foundation of modern agriculture.
