Abstract
Bourguet in 1928 first suggested extending the facelift procedure into the upper neck, but he limited himself to cutaneous undermining. Other surgeons who promoted these extended dissections were Crowe in France, Mayer and Swanker in the United States, and Gonzalez-Ulloa in Mexico. Adamson and associates suggested excision of a transverse island of submental skin and fat. Millard described isolated submandibular lipectomy.
