  • Chapter
Book cover Neuropsychopharmacology of the Trace Amines

Abstract

Phenylethylamine (PEA) is an endogenously produced trace amine with chemical similarities to amphetamine. It has been of particular interest to psychiatric researchers as a putative, endogenously produced mood-altering and/or psychotomimetic agent (Fischer and Heller, 1972; Wyatt, 1978).
