Umeshwar Dayal spoke mostly about an on-going project at CCA. Their main interest is in very specific extensions to existing DBMS technology. They are taking the “evolutionary” approach to KBMS design, noting that there already exists a well-defined DBMS technology for various kinds of applications, and that they are seeking to develop a new system within a three-to five-year range..
