t-Test II: Paired Data

Abstract

When data are presented in paired fashion the paired t-test is often used. For example, we might be interested in the heart rate of a subject before and after receiving some drug. In such cases it is the difference that we are interested in. For each subject we have two values, x i and y i and the difference, d i = x i - y i , as outlined below.
