Thermocline Theories

Part of the Topics in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences book series (TATM)

The main objective of thermocline theory is to explain the phenomenon of the strong, vertical temperature gradient in relatively shallow water (200 – 800 m) where the transition occurs from the ocean’s surface temperature to the colder, more uniform waters of the abyss.
