Regulation of alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptors

  • Chapter
The alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptors

Part of the book series: The Receptors ((REC))

Abstract

In this chapter, we will review available literature (as of January, 1986) on the regulation of expression of alpha-2 adrenergic receptors. We have somewhat arbitrarily divided regulation of alpha-2 adrenergic receptors into ”physiologic,” ”pharmacologic,” and ”disease-related” changes in receptor expression. Although some may disagree with these distinctions, we believe they provide a framework to examine settings that may involve different mechanisms for receptor regulation.
