Abstract
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) serology can be considerably improved when pure defined antigens are used and antibody class specific tests are applied (1, 2). The identification of antigens is possible by series of Western blots and immunoprecipitations (3). In combination with gene mapping data from hybrid-selected translation (3, 4), recombinant DNA technology was used to produce a panel of viral antigens. These antigens were evaluated in antibody class specific tests in their diagnostic significance for infectious mononucleosis, chronic active EBV infection and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
