Abstract

TCP/IP is a collection of network protocols which together support host-to-host communication for hosts connected to any of a number of heterogeneous networks — including land-based, long-haul networks (like X.25 Public Data Networks and the DoD’s own ARPANET), satellite networks, mobile packet radio networks and high-speed local area networks such as have recently been standardized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society.
