Abstract

In vivo microscopic studies of hemopoietic tissues and organs are limited in numbers and, to date, have been restricted to studies of the rabbit bone marrow,1–6 the mouse spleen,7–15 fetal liver,16–19 and grafts of bone marrow or spleen into chambers implanted in the hamster cheek pouch or a dorsal skin flap of the mouse.20,21 Nevertheless, these studies have provided valuable information concerning the microvascular compartment of the hemopoietic microenvironment.
