Abstract
Boxes are a very basic component of TEX. We will discuss boxes in quite some detail in this Chapter, because boxes allow the user of TEX to construct and position text in almost any possible way. While boxes are a rather low level entity of TEX, a thorough understanding of boxes is very important for a variety of reasons.
