The Interactive Canvas

  • Alex Calvo

Think of interface design as an interactive canvas. In the past this canvas would often burden the software designer, but now its capabilities are becoming virtually boundless. With the advent of so many new visual programming environments, such as Microsoft Visual Basic and Borland’s Delphi, the modern day software designer can literally paint an application’s interface on the screen. Long gone are the days of manually entering the position and size of objects and then having to wait for the computer to compile your program, only to find out that things didn’t come out quite as you had planned.
