Abstract
Following experiments made by UKTRT [1] and ESO [2], the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope is presently studying various options for installing a high speed data link between its observatory on Mauna Kea and its headquarters in Waimea. The new expansion of the base facility, completed in January, 1987, includes provision for the corresponding transceiver and a room for remote observing. At the same time a feasibility study has been initiated for remote observing from home institutions in Canada, France and Oahu.
