Abstract
Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) in Japan (1) began in 1975. In the first years the results were poor. The number of cases of BMT started to increase in 1980 after the formation of the Japan BMT study group of 31 hospitals supported by a grant from the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Japan. This paper reports the data obtained from the registry of the Japanese study group. Member hospitals are listed in Table 1.
