Abstract
The surgical removal of gastric carcinoma continues to be the only method of treatment that offers the afflicted patient a chance for healing or improvement of symptoms. Unfortunately, however, the number of advanced tumors for which no chance of healing exists remains high, making palliative procedures of great importance in surgical practice.
