Abstract
Estimate of body surface area are commonly used in clinical medicine for a variety of applications, including the calculation of chemotherapeutic drug dosages in cancer therapy, the determination of the dosage of some drugs used in pediatrics, the indexing of hemodynamic parameters (eg, stroke volume index = stroke volume/body surface area in square meters [sqm]) and the correction of creatinine clearance for body surface area [corrected clearance = actual clearance x (body surface area (sqm)/1.73 sqm)].
