Abstract
Identifying, characterizing, and quantifying occupational lung disease based largely on radiographic evidence has logically been a priority, but clearly the toxic or allergic factor must be defined as well as the resulting impairment of lung function following dust inhalation. It is the intent of this chapter to define the clinical characteristics of these diseases and to describe the physiological consequences of inhaling the noxious materials.
