RFLP Standardization Report for DP Beta/EcoRI

  • Conference paper
Immunobiology of HLA

Abstract

The majority of the 14 fragments identified in the DP beta/EcoRI system were cross-hybridizing with DRB and DQB (Table 3 in the DR Beta/EcoRI report). The DP beta–specific bands were numbers 2,6,7, and 12 (Table 1 and Fig. 1), the latter being a constant band. Six different banding patterns were also identified. Only fragment number 7 (7.20 kb) was significantly correlated with a specific DP type (DPw2; x2=15.166). EcoRI appears to have limited value in DP typing using RFLP. The discordance between hidden duplicates in this system (fragment 13) was caused by lack of resolution of close bands.
